How Does Drop-Off Shredding Work?

As a professional shredding company offering several types of shredding services for businesses and residents, we’re often asked about our drop-off shredding service.

Here are some common questions people have about drop-off shredding with PROSHRED Connecticut.

What is drop-off shredding exactly? With drop-off shredding, you box up the documents you want shredded and bring them to a location, where you leave them to be securely shredded.

Where do I bring my documents if I want to use PROSHRED Connecticut’s drop-off shredding service? You can bring your documents to our location in Wallingford: 801 North Main Street Ext, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Do I need an appointment for drop-off shredding? No appointment needed! You can come to our Wallingford location anytime between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 9:30 to 3:30 on Fridays.

Who should use drop-off shredding? Drop-off shredding is a good option for business or residential clients that have 10 boxes of less of confidential and sensitive information they need completely destroyed.

Can’t I just shred my documents at home with my own shredder? That’s certainly an option, but the kind of shredder you can buy at an office supplies store doesn’t do as thorough a job of shredding, and sometimes the information in documents shredded with a consumer shredder can still be read or reconstructed. In addition, time is money and if you have a large volume of documents, shredding them a few pages at a time can be time-consuming and messy, and you can’t recycle the shredded paper. At PROSHRED Connecticut, we recycle all the paper we shred.

Do you shred my documents right in front of me? Not with drop-off shredding, no. While we do shred documents immediately on-site for our corporate customers who have purges of 10 boxes or more or ongoing shredding services with us, for drop-off shredding, we collect documents and shred them later that day. If you bring documents to a shredding event, we put your documents into one of our 95 Gallon bins and we shred them right there and then. You can witness destruction. If you bring documents to our Wallingford location, we will seal them in a locked, secure container and the first truck off the road that day shreds whatever has been dropped off.

If I can’t see them being shredded, how do I know my documents are secure? PROSHRED Connecticut is dedicated to keeping our clients’ sensitive documents safe and secure—no matter whether that client is a huge corporation or an individual who does drop-off shredding with us once a year. PROSHRED Connecticut has been in operation since 2007 and is ISO certificated, which guarantees the highest standards in quality and service. We are also are N.A.I.D. AAA Certified. Our staff members are highly trained, bonded, and uniformed with a firm commitment to keeping your documents safe. We would not risk our Certifications for anything!

Is there a limit to how many documents I can bring for drop-off-shredding? There is no limit, but if you have more than 10-12 boxes of documents, it can be more cost-effective for you if we come to your location.

How much does drop-off shredding cost? If you bring documents to our Wallingford location for shredding, we charge $10 per standard size box and $15 for larger boxes or bags. Most shred events are fundraisers and there is typically a $10 per box charge to raise money.
