The City of Brookfield became part of the Milwaukee County in 1836. After the Second World War, the town of Brookfield started to take shape. During this time, various infrastructure and residential subdivisions were created. The City of Brookfield was incorporated on August 14, 1954. The area today covers 27 square miles and is home to 40,000 residents. Brookfield is a major business center in southeastern Wisconsin.
